20% Polyimide Filled PTFE

20% Polyimide-Filled PTFE sheets, rods and tubes. It can conform to FDA standards, and polyimide filler can be added to your special needs.

Description

20% Polyimide-filled PTFE is a high-performance, self-lubricating engineering plastic that blends 80% PTFE with 20% polyimide powder. It has the lowest wear rates and coefficients of friction among PTFE compounds, and it performs very well under high mechanical pressures and against soft mating surfaces.

This material is commonly available in stock shapes (rods, tubes, and sheets) for custom machining. The most common polyimide powder percentages in PTFE are 10%, 15%, 20% and 25%.

Advantages

Below are the reasons for using 20% Polyimide-filled PTFE material.

Low Friction and Wear

Highly suited for demanding dry-running and stop-start applications without requiring external lubrication.

Non-Abrasive

Ideal for use against soft, delicate mating surfaces like aluminium, brass, or mild steel.

High-Temperature Resistance

It can operate in high-temperature environments.

Mechanical Stability

Demonstrates diminished creep under load compared to standard, unfilled PTFE.

Applications

20% Polyimide-filled PTFE material is ideal for dry friction conditions in a non-corrosive environment. It is also suitable for rotary and reciprocating sealing systems and high-stress, low-speed industrial and automotive components.
