Welcome to Learning about G11 Glass Epoxy Washers
G11 glass epoxy washers are high-performance composite washers composed of woven glass cloth filled with epoxy resin. These washers are intended for the most challenging electrical insulation projects, which include extremely high temperatures and severe physical loads.
As a premium grade under NEMA standards, G11 is rated as Class F (155°C) and Class H (180°C). This material belongs to the NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association) grade standards. It usually has a natural yellow-green to amber colour. G11 does not absorb water, making it dimensionally stable. It will not warp or “cold flow” under heavy mechanical pressure.
The greatest advantage of G-11 over standard G-10 or FR4 materials is its strength at high temperatures. Its continuous operating temperature ranges from 155°C to 175°C.
Applications
G11 glass epoxy washers are generally used for flanged connections on industrial pipes and equipment. Their main purpose is to seal and insulate electrically, which helps prevent electrochemical corrosion, especially when used with cathodic protection devices. They are high-performance industrial fasteners.
