NBR O-Rings

Description

NBR O-rings are among the most popular and commonly used sealing materials, thanks to their superior sealing and mechanical capabilities at a reasonable cost. We provide a large quantity of the highest-quality O-rings made from premium-grade Buna-N rubber.

The word “nitrile rubber” (NBR) refers to acrylonitrile butadiene copolymer. The acrylonitrile percentage in nitrile sealing compounds can vary widely, from 18% to 50%, and this variation affects the physical properties of the final product. The higher the acrylonitrile content, the more resistant to oil and fuel.

Advantages

NBR O-rings have relatively high mechanical properties when compared with other rubber O-rings and high wear resistance. They have relatively high wear resistance, compression set resistance and relatively high permeation resistance.

Limitations

• NBR is not resistant to weathering and ozone. It also has other limitations and disadvantages, which are listed below.
• Not suited to Highly Aromatic fuels and hydrocarbons
• Not Resistant to Weathering, Sunlight and Ozone
• Not Resistant to Halogenated Hydrocarbons
• Not suited to Chlorinated Hydrocarbons

Applications

NBR O-rings have excellent oil resistance, which makes them ideal for petroleum oil, mineral oil and grease, fuel oils, and vegetable and mineral oils. They are also used in pneumatic, hydraulic, and fuel systems.

The abrasion and wear resistance of NBR make it useful for dynamic oil seals for rotary and reciprocating shafts. NBR is relatively easy to process, which keeps costs down for custom extrusions and complex moulds.
