The PCTFE tube has various distinguishing characteristics, including extremely low moisture absorption and permeability. It is extremely resistant to cold flow, rigid and durable, has excellent dimensional stability, and has exceptional low-temperature qualities. It is particularly useful as a valve component material in cryogenic fluid applications.
PCTFE, also known as CTFE, has unique physical and mechanical capabilities, is non-flammable, chemically resistant, absorbs almost no moisture, and has remarkable electrical properties that no other thermoplastic fluoropolymer has. It shares many qualities with other fluoropolymers, such as PTFE and FEP, but is more stiff, resistant to cold flow, and has the lowest coefficient of thermal expansion of all unfilled fluoropolymers, making it an excellent choice for dimensional stability.
Application
The PCTFE tube is excellent for sealing in severely corrosive and high-pressure environments. PCTFE is widely used in cryogenic applications, including cryogenic valves and pumps. Its mechanical qualities at -250°C are excellent for LNG installations. It works well as a seal or valve seat since it is softer than metal or PEEK. Due to its low gas absorption and outgassing, PCTFE is widely employed in aeronautical applications.
