Welcome to Learning about PCTFE Rod
PCTFE rod has several unique properties, like very low moisture absorption and permeation. It is highly resistant to cold flow; very rigid; tough; has excellent dimensional stability; and has outstanding low-temperature properties. It is especially applicable as a valve component material in cryogenic fluid service.
PCTFE, also known as CTFE, combines physical and mechanical properties, non-flammability, chemical resistance, near zero moisture absorption, and excellent electrical properties not found in any other thermoplastic fluoropolymer. It has many of the same properties as other fluoropolymers, such as PTFE and FEP, but is more rigid, resistant to cold flow, and has the lowest coefficient of thermal expansion among unfilled fluoropolymers, making it an ideal choice for dimensional stability.
Application
PCTFE rod is suitable for sealing in highly corrosive mediums and high-pressure systems. PCTFE is often used in cryogenic applications, like cryogenic valves or pumps. Its mechanical properties at -250°C are optimal in LNG installations. As a soft material compared to metal or PEEK, it serves well as a seal or valve seat. Thanks to its low gas absorption and outgassing, PCTFE is commonly used in aerospace applications.
