Welcome to Learning about 10% Ekonol-Filled PTFE
Compared to regular PTFE, 10% ekonol-filled PTFE sheets, tubes, and rods are very durable and slide easily, and their smooth surface helps avoid damage to softer parts that touch them. Seal components use these materials for both static and dynamic applications.
Ekonol filler is the key component in extending the life of parts and components made from PTFE compounds. The outstanding qualities of Ekonol-filled PTFE materials offer the best protection against wear, keep their shape well, and resist corrosion for parts that are molded or shaped in tough conditions.
The 10% Ekonol filled PTFE materials have excellent thermal stability along with good creep resistance and excellent load-bearing capacity. These features make the materials have a long service life for bearings, seals, rotors, and related parts.
Ekonol®, also called POB, is an aromatic polyphenyl ester. The standard filling grade is Fine Ekonol®, but it may contain black specks. Therefore, the equivalent aromatic polyester-filled PTFE material is preferred.
Application
10% ekonol-filled PTFE materials are used in bearings, seals, rotors, and related parts. They are very suitable for rotary applications as well as food applications. They are particularly well-suited for applications that involve soft materials like aluminum. The content of Ekonol filler can range from 10% to 25%.
