Welcome to Know Monel 400 Spiral Wound Gasket
Monel 400 spiral wound gasket is a good choice when the gasket needs contact with seawater and steam at high temperatures. Monel 400 is a nickel-copper alloy (about 67% Ni–23% Cu) that is resistant to seawater and steam at high temperatures. Not only that, Monel 400 exhibits characteristics like good corrosion resistance, good weldability, and high strength.
This gasket is expensive compared to other steel spiral wound gaskets. But we had enough materials to produce any orders in a short time. We are quality suppliers and manufacturers.
Monel 400 Spiral Wound Gasket Centering Ring Material
When the Monel 400 spiral wound gasket is a CG or CGI type, it will have a centering ring, also called an outer ring. The outer ring helps position the gasket on the mating flange faces, preventing over-compression of the sealing element and ensuring optimal sealing performance.
The gasket centering ring material is often made from carbon steel, as it is a cheap choice. However, the manufacturer may also use some stainless steel options, such as SS304 or SS306, based on customer requirements.
The Advantages of Monel 400 Spiral Wound Gasket
- Alloy 400 gaskets have excellent resistance to seawater and steam at high temperatures.
- It has excellent resistance to rapidly flowing brackish water or seawater
- The gasket has excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking in most freshwaters
- The gasket has particularly high resistance to hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids when they are de-aerated
- It also has excellent resistance to neutral and alkaline salt
- It has good mechanical properties from sub-zero temperatures up to 1020° F
What time to Replace a New Monel 400 Spiral Wound Gasket?
Monel 400 spiral wound gasket is a good sealing gasket, as it has high corrosion resistance and stable performance in high and low temperatures. However, it still has a limited service life and requires replacement at some point. Ideally, a new Alloy 400 spiral wound gasket should be replaced as soon as leakage is visible. Furthermore, it is best to plan replacement as soon as signs of wear and tear are visible. The operating conditions, the medium, and environmental conditions will influence the gaskets’ service life and replacement time.
